Pacific Park Creating Lifetime Memories

Neighbourhood

Welcome to Tauranga

The Tauranga region is one of the most popular holiday destinations in New Zealand. Pacific Park Christian Camp is nestled amongst the sand dunes on Papamoa Beach, just 15 minutes from the centre of Tauranga city in one direction and 15 minutes from one of New Zealand’s most popular beach towns, Mount Maunganui, in another. The largest suburb in Tauranga and a popular holiday destination in its own right, Papamoa is characterised by a pristine 16-kilometre white sand beach and its relaxed family-friendly atmosphere.

Local Activities

What's on in the region

Whether you’re travelling by yourself, with your family or with a large group, the Tauranga region offers plenty of activities and attractions to keep everyone entertained. Water forms the heart of Tauranga’s main attractions. Swimming, surfing, fishing, diving, kayaking, dolphin-spotting charters and other water-based activities are just a stone’s throw away. During the summer months, the beaches are patrolled by well-trained surf lifesavers to help keep your family safe. Remember: always swim between the flags.

If you need a break from the water, there are plenty of places to explore. Tauranga, Maunganui and Papamoa all have significant cultural and heritage sites. Te Rae O Papamoa is a such a site, with the maunga dominating the Papamoa Sky line. Great walks include McLaren Falls, the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park and of course climbing Mauao (the Mount), remember to take your camera; the 360-degree views at the top are so worth it.

If you’re after a spot of retail therapy, head to Mount Main Street, Downtown Tauranga, or Bayfair Shopping Centre.

For adventure and a high-adrenalin experience you’ll remember forever, give Waimarino Adventure Park’s giant inflatable waterslides, the land sailing machines at Blokart or Adrenaline Forest’s high-wire ropes course a go.

Food & Amenities

Papamoa and the wider Tauranga area offers loads of food options, including cafes, bakeries, bars, restaurants, fast food outlets and supermarkets. The roads are easy to navigate and parking is easy to find, however if you’d prefer to leave the car behind Tauranga’s public transport system connects Papamoa with Tauranga and Mount Maunganui every half-hour by bus; check out the timetable here.
